We breed pure Lusitano horses under the Portuguese breeding association APSL. Our breeding program is based on broodmares and stallions with documented strong and recognized bloodlines from Portugal to ensure offspring of high quality with all the breed's unique characteristics.

Our goal is to maintain the quality of Lusitano horses and preserve the breed's unique and characteristic features, as well as emphasize the ideal combination of appearance, movement, temperament and rideability.

Our offspring are piroplasmosis-free and will be suitable for various disciplines, including dressage, jumping and working equitation, and be ideal partners for riders at all levels.

Our broodmares, foals and selection of stallions for reproduction are from the Lusitano Stud Ribatejo Lusitanos, CDR v/Nadja Maria Bieler. They are carefully selected based on their genetic heritage and lineage, which dates back to breeding stallions known for excellent performance, temperament, movement and conformation.

ABOUT THE BREED

The Portuguese horse breed PSL (Puro Sangue Lusitano) originates from ancient Lusitania, which is present-day Portugal, and the breeding of the breed can be traced back several centuries. The Lusitano breed is considered to be one of the oldest horse breeds in the world and has a distinguished history as a war horse and dressage horse. Today, the Lusitano is highly sought after due to its beauty, strength, elegance and versatility in riding. Its intelligence, beautiful appearance and versatility make the Lusitano horse a beloved horse breed both in Portugal and internationally. It is known to have a loyal and devoted personality, which makes it an ideal partner for riders in various disciplines and levels.

With its impressive physical appearance, agility and well-balanced body structure, the Lusitano is well-suited for various disciplines in riding. Lusitanos are especially popular in dressage and have achieved great success on the international competition scene in recent years. They are also skilled at performing traditional Portuguese disciplines such as working with bulls and "haute école" (airs above the ground). It is famous for its natural ability to perform advanced exercises in dressage, including piaffe and passage. The Lusitano has a natural inclination to work together with its rider and is therefore a popular riding horse. It is known to be intelligent, brave and willing to work. Furthermore, it has a strong and stable temperament, and due to its natural balance and agility, it makes it easy for the rider to achieve harmonious and elegant riding.

The Lusitano has a compact and muscular body, which gives it great agility and freedom of movement. The breed has previously been used as a war horse, where it has proven to be brave and durable.
